小相 xiǎoxiàng

[A person who serves as master of ceremonies when offering sacrificies to gods or ancestors,having weeting with dukesand meeting the Emperor] 祭祀或诸侯会盟,朝见天子时作赞礼和司仪的人

原为小相。——《论语·先述》

• 1. 傧相的谦称。相，诸侯祭祀、盟会时的司仪官。
  

  《论语·先进》：“宗庙之事，如会同，端章甫，愿为小相焉。”

  朱熹 注：“相，赞君之礼者。言小，亦谦辞。”

• 2. 称婚礼中的傧相。
  

  唐 牛僧孺 《玄怪录·郭元振》：“闻将军今日嘉礼，愿为小相耳。”

• 3. 旧时对年龄较轻的成年男子的敬称。
  

  《儒林外史》第十三回：“差人道：‘先生一向可同做 南昌府 的 蘧 家 蘧小相儿 相与？’”。”
